Hello to all you lovely readers!  My name is April and, as of late, I have been getting up to all sorts of mischief arranging various community and Fundraising events within Autism Together.

For those of you who do not know last month I celebrated my 2 year anniversary with Autism Together.  I have a BA in English Literature and Spanish alongside an MA in Modern Foreign Languages, so if any Spanish or Catalan speakers are reading this, please feel free to get my cogs back into gear.  In a similar vein, I also happen to be a graduate of our illustrious Step into Work Plus programme, meaning that I also have a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome.

It’s probably best to ask my colleagues what it is like working alongside someone with Asperger’s; nevertheless, I am thoroughly enjoying my role within the department and I am very keen to get my hands and feet stuck into whatever is thrown at me!

We have a couple of exciting fundraising projects over the past couple of weeks that I have been involved in.  Our sponsored Abseil last month raised over £2,300 for charity – amazing! I loved helping to organise our Family Fun Day during the summer and I have even set foot inside Liverpool John Lennon Airport alongside Rick Myers as a VIP (fancy that, a VIP!).  Finally, despite being the Christmas Humbug I am, I’m really looking forward our Christmas Grotto!

I will be in office on Mondays and Wednesdays for the time being.  Please do come and say hello – or ‘help!’ if you need any ideas with fundraising!
