Our director of client services Jane Carolan and head of Autism in Practice Yvonne Crowhurst met Alistair Burt, minister for mental health, at Merseycare recently.  High on the agenda was the campaign being run by Autism Together and Autism Adventures to make Liverpool one of the UK’s first autism-friendly cities.

In his weekly blog, Alistair Burt commented that 75 percent of autistic people say they feel socially isolated. “That’s a shocking statistic to consider – especially for those of us committed to closer integration of health, care and community services as we seek to promote and protect the wellbeing of us all,” he said.

He praised the collective willingness of the Liverpool project team and all the Liverpool Autism Champions to make changes, calling it inspiring work.  “This is yet another reason for Liverpool to be very proud of itself and its community spirit,” he said.
