Sara Forfar, Homestart Wirral Shop Manager, was so delighted with Ralph Smith, a student from our Step into Work Plus Programme, that she nominated him for the Young Volunteer of the Year Award in the Charity Retail Association Awards which Ralph then went on to win.
Ralph, who is on a work placement at the Charity Shop, has the job of scanning and categorising books donated to Homestart. The books are then sold in the shop or posted on the Shop’s ebay store – both avenues can be very lucrative with some books raising as much as £50 for the charity, all thanks to Ralph’s dedication and hard work.
Hema Chandrashekhar, Placement Officer Step into Work Plus, said “It was to our great delight that Ralph won this award. He has worked hard to make his placement a success so he has done extremely well to win this and really deserves it! .“
