quiz

The biggest charity quiz on Merseyside returns to Heswall Hall soon when the total raised for Wirral Autistic Society is expected to break through the £40,000 mark.

The late Peter Kenrick hosted the first quiz in the back room of the Merebrook pub in 2008 when a handful of teams attended. Now about 200 people take part in the event which has been carried on by his two sons James and Adam along with his long time partner Julie Ellsmoor.

Julie said: “The emphasis is on having fun and raising funds . We have a wonderful team of volunteers and the boys and I are very grateful to everyone who helps us.”

This year’s Big Quiz takes place in Heswall Hall at 7.30pm on Friday May 9. Tickets are £10 per person which includes entry in the quiz, a hot pot supper, late bar, live entertainment an auction and a raffle. Teams can be made up of between four and ten people.

Tickets are available from Julie Ellsmoor on 079809 02225 or Wirral Autistic Society’s fund-raiser Rick Myers on 07887 631218.

Rick said: “Ever since Peter started the first Big Quiz six years ago the nights have been a great success. Julie and Peter’s sons have done a great job not only keeping the event going but building on it year by year.”
