On Wednesday and Thursday 20th and 21st November 2013, Wirral Autistic Society’s Community and Vocation Service (CVS) were visited by students from the Liverpool School of English who were on a week-long exchange visit from Lille in Northern France.

Over the two afternoons that the students attended, they spent time in various sessions across CVS, gaining insight into the work Wirral Autistic Society undertake with service users and of the range of activities we offer for them.

Contact was made with WAS by Amy Slattery, the International Operations Manager, from the school. Amy thought it would be really useful for the students to gain some experience in a service like ours, as all of the students are either already involved, or plan to take up careers within Social Care in their native France.

Over the course of the visits, a total of 29 students, 3 supporting staff on the trip and Amy from the Liverpool School of English visited and participated in activities with service users and staff.

The CVS at WAS were really pleased to be able to show others the fabulous achievements our service users are capable of. We hope they enjoyed the rest of their stay in the UK and that they were inspired by their visit to our services.
