Making a real difference to the lives of the people we support…
North West charity Autism Together is looking to recruit a number of new trustees to its board. If you are an enthusiastic professional with senior-level experience in finance and accountancy, human resources, property, or special needs education, then we would like to hear from you.
Successful applicants will be joining the board of one of the UK’s leading specialist service providers, a charitable organisation which directly supports over 400 people on the autism spectrum. Founded in Wirral in 1968, Autism Together now employs over 1,000 staff across its operations in Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales.
This is a complex, stimulating, award-winning organisation with an annual turnover of over £21m and a substantial property portfolio. The charity provides residential care, supported living, respite, day services, and community outreach for adults with autism, alongside a range of support for young people and their families.
Our trustees contribute significantly to the strategic planning and direction of Autism Together and, along with the desired skills mentioned above, the candidate should demonstrate experience in governance, excellent communication and an ability to conform to our Trustee Code.
The board recognises that diversity of trustees is vital if we are to operate with excellence. While applications are welcome from all sections of the community, we would particularly encourage applications from women; people of black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds; people with disabilities and those from younger age groups.
Trustees are expected to attend board meetings, take up membership of at least one committee and to familiarise themselves with all aspects of the charity’s work.
While we would hope to hold interviews in person, we recognise this may not be possible in the current crisis and will organise alternative arrangements with individual candidates as necessary.
