Sponsor a Pig

The first pigs are thought to have been brought to Europe from Asia for farming around 8,000 years ago. They then bred with European wild boar until they became quite distinct from their ancestors.

Pigs can live for over 10 years, and some do live up to 20 years. While they are herbivores – eating mainly leaves, roots, fruit, and flowers – wild pigs eat insects, eggs, and meat if they find it.

Our pigs are Kunekunes, a friendly, hairy breed from New Zealand.
