Sponsor a Guinea Pig

The guinea pig is quite poorly named, because it neither originates from the African country known as Guinea, nor is it related to a pig!

They are actually part of the rodent family, though they are friendly, relaxed, and love to eat – much like our real pigs!

Guinea pigs have long pregnancies, for their size, and so give birth to well-developed offspring. They typically live around seven years and are highly sociable creatures, enjoying the company of other guinea pigs and cuddles from humans too.

Meet some of Guinea Pigs…

Pip & Squeak

Breed: Guinea pig

Born: Unknown - donated to our farm in 2023

Offspring: Snap, Crackle, and Pop

Favourite thing to do: Snuggle with staff and people we support – our guinea pigs are very friendly and relaxed around humans.

Interesting fact: When we got Squeak, we didn’t realise that she was pregnant! A few months later, on July 25th, 2023, Squeak gave birth to three babies. The people we support named them Snap, Crackle and Pop. Snap is blind in one eye but this doesn’t hold him back from having a lovely life on our farm.
