Overview of the role…
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to promote a safe working environment for our people. The successful candidate will act as a trusted H&S advisor to the charity, conducting robust inspections across all our estates and facilities, and adopting a culture for learning through corrective action planning.

This is a pivotal position ensuring compliance is fostered in all forms of health and safety, approved codes of practice and local procedures. The successful candidate will be focussed on embedding a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement alongside the Director of Estates & Facilities.

The postholder will promote a safety culture whilst ensuring audit compliance, elevating standards and appropriate training to staff. They will be responsible for working with managers to establish and maintain safe systems of working for colleagues and the People We Support.

Autism Together is a charity which offers support to autistic individuals and those with learning disabilities. We have a varied estates portfolio covering Residential, Supported Living and Day Service environments, to create pathways for the People We Support to ensure they live their best lives.

What you will be doing…

  • Advise on all aspects of health, safety, and wellbeing issues, as they pertain to all Autism Together operations.
  • Encourage and implement the continual development and improvement of a proactive health and safety culture.
  • Develop, promote, monitor and review health and safety policies, procedures, and safe systems.
  • Develop and complete ongoing audit and inspections to ensure compliance with internal, statutory and professional requirements.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring full compliance with RIDDOR reporting.
  • Complete accident investigation on sites when required, record and liaise with any external investigating agencies as required.
  • Ensure routine health and safety activities and checks are carried out, eg review risk assessments, carry out fire inspections and drills.

Hours of work…
The postholder’s substantive work location will be our head office in Bromborough, Wirral. However, it will be an essential requirement for the postholder to visit other work sites.

This is a permanent role, on full-time hours, Monday to Friday. We do, however, offer the opportunity for flexible working practices and exceptional development opportunities for the right candidate.

What we are looking for:
Our ideal candidate will be able to work under their own initiative, within structured timescales and be an expert in health and safety.

The postholder must possess a high-quality approach to work, be customer focused, hold or be working towards a specific Level 3 Health & Safety qualification – such as the NEBOSH certificate.
