Autism Together will be taking part in this year’s Heritage Open Days by taking the public on guided tours of the historic buildings we own in Bromborough Pool Village.
Each September, Heritage Open Days allow the chance for people across the UK to experience history, architecture and culture in their area – all for free!
Our charity will be facilitating guided and self-guided tours of Bromborough Pool Village and opening up our heritage buildings to visitors.
Bromborough Pool is a model village (completed in 1858), built for the workers of Price’s Candles and pre-dating nearby Port Sunlight Village.
The buildings that can be explored include the Victorian-era former school house, the former St Matthew’s Church, and the central hall section of Giles Shirley Hall (which housed the village’s original school).
The tours will also take in other sites of historical interest within the village, including the site of Price’s Candle Factory, the Old Court House, The Green, and the former Price’s Social Club – although these parts of the tour will be restricted to external views only.
Tours start and finish at the Bromborough Pool Café & Shop (The Green, Bromborough Pool, Wirral, CH62 4TT), which also offers an adjacent car park.
The Café & Shop will be open during the open days, where tour leaflets can be collected for self-guided or guided tours.
Tour leaflets can also be accessed and downloaded online, via this link.
The guided tours will last around one hour. Pre-booking is required. To book, please contact: Bromborough Pool Café & Shop – 0151 643 1359, or email: Mike.Christiansen@autismtogether.co.uk or call: 0748 5933 756.
